The 28th PMPC Star Awards for Television (2014) noticed Carlo’s TV hosting prowess and placed him as finalist for the Best Travel Show Host category. His travel show,”I Love Pinas,” won at the 23rd KBP Golden Dove Awards (2015) as Best Culture and Arts Show. This was one of the shows he hosted weekly; the other shows are SHOUTOUT (informal college debate show); SARAP PINOY (cooking show); and DIYOS AT BAYAN (talk show focused on national issues). These aired on GMA Channel 7, GMA News TV and Light Network 33, produced by ZOE Broadcasting Network. I have worked in the media industry for over 10 years, covering national issues, human-interest stories, travel, and lifestyle features. Throughout this time, I have developed my skills, built connections, and established credibility in the field of communication.
During my career, I have been mentored by highly respected and multi-awarded journalists such as Jessica Soho, Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Cheche Lazaro, Kata Inocencio, and Maria Ressa.
I worked for GMA Network Inc. as a news producer, senior reporter, host, and anchor. I was responsible for gathering news and information, setting up interviews, covering ongoing stories, writing scripts, supervising video editing, and delivering news reports. I was a host for the GMA program “Reporter’s Notebook”; a segment host for “Unang Hirit”; and a news contributor for CNN World Report. Additionally, GMA sponsored me to attend seminars conducted by professionals from international news agencies, specifically, CNN and Reuters.
After my time in the newsroom, I became a full-time TV host and ventured into event hosting. I also worked as an on-camera talent for TV commercials and audio-visual presentations (AVP), did voice-over projects, and wrote articles for different publications.
As a host, I have co-hosted the prestigious CMMA night with celebrities like Robi Domingo, Dimples Romana, Melai, and Alex Gonzaga. I have also provided voice-over work for commercials such as Citibank, Kopiko Blanca, Grab Food, Vernel (Filipino), and Disney’s “The Emperor’s New Groove” as the voice of the lead character, Kuzco. Additionally, I have appeared in TV commercials as an on-camera talent for BonChon, Mister Donut, Meralco, Del Monte Tomato Sauce, and Safeguard. My most recent print ad is for the Maxicare Health Card.
